About Us

Pixstock is a library of AI-generated stock images for websites, ads, social media and presentations. Every image is royalty-free, and each one comes in three sizes, including a free one.

How our images are made

We don’t send prompts to a big cloud AI service. Every image on Pixstock is made on our own hardware, with specialized AI models that run locally.

Each image starts with a carefully engineered prompt: a detailed description of the scene, from the subject and setting down to the lighting and mood, along with tags that make the finished image easy to find. That prompt is fed into a local model built specifically for image generation, which turns it into the photo you see.

A small energy footprint

A lot of people worry about how much energy and water AI uses. We do too, and it’s one of the reasons we built Pixstock the way we did.

  • About the power of a gaming PC. Our images are made on a single desktop computer with two consumer graphics cards. While it’s working, it draws about as much power as a gaming PC running a demanding game.
  • No data center. There’s no server farm and no water-cooling system. The computer is cooled by air, like any desktop. The only water involved is what’s used to generate the electricity it runs on.
  • Made once, used many times. Each image is generated once and can then be downloaded by any number of people. Nothing is regenerated when you download it.

AI can make mistakes

Every image on Pixstock is labeled as AI-generated. Image models sometimes get details wrong, like an extra finger, garbled text or an object that doesn’t quite make sense. If you spot something inaccurate or inappropriate, use the Report image link on the image’s page and we’ll take a look.
