Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Pixstock collects when you use our website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we need to run the store, and we don’t sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
When you check out
Whether your order is free or paid, we collect:
- Your name, email address and country, which you enter at checkout.
- Your order details: which images and sizes you ordered, the price, and the date.
- Whether you signed up for our newsletter, using the checkbox at checkout. It’s unchecked unless you check it.
- Your IP address and browser type, which our store software records with each order to help prevent fraud.
- How you found us, for example a search engine, a social network or an ad campaign, which our store software also records with each order. See “Cookies” below.
We don’t ask for your postal address or phone number.
When you pay
Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers; we only see the card type and last four digits. Stripe may also collect information about your device to prevent fraud. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
When you report an image, request an image or contact us
- If you use Report image, we store which image you reported, your comment if you wrote one, and your IP address. We use the IP address only to limit repeated reports.
- If you contact us, we keep your message and your contact details so we can reply.
- If you request an image, we keep your request, your name and email address, and your IP address. We use your email to reply and, if you ask us to, to tell you when new images for your request are added. We use the IP address only to limit repeated requests.
When you browse
- Searches and tag clicks. We record the words people search for and the tags they click, to learn which images to make next. These records don’t include your name, email or IP address.
- Security logs. Our website and its security software log IP addresses and requests, for example to block attacks and repeated failed logins.
- Wishlist. If you save images with the heart button, we store which images you saved. If you aren’t logged in, the list is linked to a random ID kept in a cookie in your browser, not to your name or email. If you log in, it’s moved to your account.
2. How we use your information
- To process your order and deliver your downloads, including sending your download links by email.
- To answer your messages and reports.
- To prevent fraud and keep the website secure.
- To understand how people find and use Pixstock, and to decide which images to create.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping sales records for tax purposes.
We send marketing emails only if you sign up for our newsletter at checkout: news about new images and collections, about once a month. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, or you can contact us to stop it. We don’t sell or rent your personal information.
3. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, which are small text files stored by your browser:
- Shopping cart cookies remember what’s in your cart. They’re needed for the store to work.
- Order source cookies remember how you arrived at our website, for example from a search engine or an ad, so this can be recorded with your order. They’re stored only in your browser until you place an order.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, named
_gaand_ga_…) let us count visits and see which pages and websites bring visitors, and how many go on to download or buy. In the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland they’re set only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. Elsewhere they’re set unless you decline. They last up to 2 years. - Your cookie choice is remembered for 1 year. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
- Payment cookies are set by Stripe on the checkout page to prevent fraud.
- Wishlist cookies make the heart button work. One is set on every visit and only lets your browser tell whether your wishlist has changed; it doesn’t identify you and is deleted when you close your browser. If you save an image without logging in, a second cookie holds the random ID that links you to your saved list, for 30 days.
- Login cookies are used only by the site’s administrators.
We don’t use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout won’t work without them.
4. Services we use
Some parts of our website are provided by other companies, who receive your IP address when your browser loads them:
- Stripe processes payments (checkout page only).
- Google Analytics (Google) measures how the website is used: the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine or a social network), your approximate location, your device and browser, and the images you view, add to your cart and order. We don’t send Google your name or email address, Google Analytics doesn’t store your IP address, and we’ve turned off its advertising features. Detailed analytics data is deleted after 2 months. Google may process this data in the United States.
- Google Fonts provides the website’s typeface.
- jsDelivr delivers parts of the website’s layout and icons.
- Our hosting provider runs the website and stores its data, and our email provider delivers order emails.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, for example against fraud.
5. How long we keep your information
- Orders are kept for as long as we need them for accounting and tax purposes, which can be several years. This is also what keeps your download links working.
- Image reports, image requests and messages are kept for as long as we need them to handle them or answer you.
- Search and tag-click records don’t identify you and may be kept indefinitely.
- Wishlists saved without logging in are deleted 30 days after you last change them. Wishlists in an account are kept until you remove the images or ask us to delete your account.
- Security logs are kept for a limited time, then deleted.
6. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you, or send you a copy.
- Correct information that’s wrong.
- Delete your information. We may need to keep some order records to meet tax and accounting rules, and deleting an order also disables its download links.
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, contact us using the email address from your order, so we can confirm it’s you.
7. Security
We protect your information with secure connections, restricted access to our systems and security software. Download links are unique to your order. No website can be completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
8. Children
Pixstock isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
10. Contact
